This page is used to introduce a variety of online tools that you can use to explore and share information in order to make your learning more effective and efficient.
If you add a tool to the list, include a brief description and a link.
Web-surfing Tools
SimplyBox - Clip images or text from any webpage, kind of like a screenshot, but drop it into a folder so that it can be organized by topic. You can also share the image or a folder with others.
Diigo - Social bookmarking. Bookmark a site, including highlighting if you want, then share it with a group who might be working on the same topic. The group that is already set up for our class is called USHistory20.
Video Production Tools
Audacity - Sound recording and editing tool. Requires download, but should be on your classroom machines.
Windows MovieMaker - Create a movie using video, still images, audio clips, recorded audio, etc. (Should be on your machine anyway.)
Schooltube - Like YouTube somewhat, but school-focused. This is where we will be posting documentaries.
Online Collaboration Tools
Debategraph.org - Visualize all aspects of a complex topic by building (collaboratively) an online debate. Add pros, cons, evidence, ideas, etc.
Bubbl.us - Online mindmapping with colorful stuff and you can share with others.
Thinkature - Incredible whiteboarding app for multiple users to access simultaneously, or not. I found, however, that it took a while to load.
Doodle.com - Conduct an online poll, or set up a time that everyone in the group can meet to work on a project. This might be one way to see who is interested in a certain set of topics and create groups that way.
Other Tools
Timetoast - Online timeline creator. Can share timelines with others, including the world.
Citation Machine - Online tool for building your citations. You put in the info it asks for, and it generates the citation is the style you select.
